On Saturday 20 May, at 5.00 pm, Cristina Iotti's personal exhibition “IERATICA” will be inaugurated, curated by Gaia Bertani and Nicla Ferrari.
The works that Cristina Iotti presents in this exhibition, all created in pencil and colored pencils on paper, span approximately a decade of her artistic career - from 2011 to 2020 - and were selected thinking about the place in which they would be exhibited.
“Hieratic”, from the Greek “hierós”, means “priestly”, “sacred”, “solemn”. Hieratic is a term also referring to gestures and bearings that have a gravity, a solemnity suited to the sacred.
The 6 chosen works, belonging to three phases of his artistic journey, also represent three different phases of life, as if to create a sort of existential journey.

The first two works represent adolescence, like chrysalises that have yet to open to the world.
The second "stage" represents adulthood, in which we are projected outward, the phase of awareness and self-realization.
The third "stage" is that of old age and death. The two works are part of the most recent series "The shadow of the body".
