Symposium Art & Design | art festival | 1st edition

SYMPOSIUM _ first edition art festival

The title of the exhibition, characterized as the first edition of the art festival, is Symposium, inspired by Plato's Symposium, in this case understood as a generational "meeting - comparison" in the sector of figurative arts, a sector that has dictated, and continues to do so, the guidelines in fashion, design and various current aesthetics.

The exhibition will take place by displaying works by internationally renowned masters, alongside research into new proposals, in a fusion between the art of the late 1900s and that of the third millennium.

The installations will respect the architecture of the host site, the Ettore Fieramosca Castle in Mignano Monte Lungo (CE), communicating with the pre-existing structures.

The works will be divided into an educational path between the various types of research, such as the figurative, the conceptual and so on to avoid creating visual pollution.

The artists, coming from all over Italy, are important names, such as Tommaso Cascella and Giampaolo Talani, who will be the focus of the exhibition together with Claudio Magrassi, Emiliano Terenzi, Cristina Iotti, Francesco Zefferino, Roberto Fabio Brucci, Patrizia Pansi, Giuseppe Persia, Angela De Lucia, Maria Rosanna Cafolla, Susanna Viale and Walter Passarella.

From the outcome of the Symposium we will try to understand the direction of current art to give clear indications to collectors, dealers and users with works coeval with the historical period in which we live.

The exhibition is organized by the "eXclusive _ contemporary art collections" of the curator Paolo Feroce and yes will open on Saturday 25 July at 6.30 pm, with free entry, in the presence of political and religious authorities.

ART IN THE WIND: 30 Italian artists rewrite tradition on the balconies of Ruvo di Puglia

From 21 to 28 April 2026, the historic center is transformed into an open-air gallery where works of art float free, recovering the ancient ritual of blankets displayed during processions. The urban installation "L'Arte nel Vento" returns on the occasion ofessere - Festival di Processi. Born in 2021 and already a protagonist in cities such as: Andria (Bat), Padua, Potenza, Presicce (Le), Retorbido (Pv) and Ceprano (Fr), the initiative arrives in Ruvo di Puglia (Ba) bringing with it the breath of 30 artists from all over Italy. The event is strictly female; the choice to involve only women is a tribute to the craftsmanship of the embroiderers of the past, but also an act of contemporary affirmation. The 30 artists involved bring their gaze to the world, using the sheet as a space of freedom, denunciation and expression of their moods. On display the works of:

Of light and shadow does not describe a visual condition, but opens up the tension between revelation and concealment, between what appears and what is hidden.
The collective exhibition is built around this polarity, entrusting painting, photography, sculpture and textile art with the task of questioning light not as a simple physical phenomenon, but as a symbolic, narrative and emotional device.

The exhibition itinerary moves like a score, where each work is a variation on the theme and where the works on display build crossing spaces in which light is deposited on things as a memory of time.

An exhibition in which the tension between the known and the unknown dominates.
Associating light with the explicit, with what is offered to the gaze and understanding, finds its counterpoint in the shadow, a place of the unsaid, of the hidden, of allusion.

Light reassures, delimits, builds boundaries, shadow, on the contrary, opens up to what remains out of sight. Yet, it is precisely in this area of uncertainty that the gaze is activated and the desire for knowledge is generated.
The works do not bridge the distance between these poles, but inhabit it, making it fertile.

Of light and shadow as a choral device, it shows us a light that is not neutral but full of narrative tensions, the spectator is called to imagine and the gaze finds space to rest.

Painting investigates light as a stratified matter, capable of making images emerge from the surface. Photography, direct daughter of luminous writing, works on the limit between visible and invisible, transforming shadow into memory. The sculpture brings into play the relationship between volume and void, ensuring that light not only illuminates, but models. Finally, textile art interweaves light and shadow through threads and makes an often impalpable dimension tangible.

Certain images preserve residues that pass through time, traces that resurface as latent presences of past experiences.

The exhibition brings the works of Paola Geranio and Cristina Iotti into dialogue, in both paths the past re-emerges as an active element, capable of reorganizing itself in new forms through different but convergent practices.

The title of the exhibition recalls the idea that the past never completely disappears, but continues to resurface in the form of traces, memories, silent presences. A concept close to hauntology, theorized by the philosopher Jacques Derrida and taken up by the writer Mark Fisher to describe the constant return of what seemed lost.

Paola Geranio works with painting starting from family photographs, especially scenes of children's games. He transforms them into intense and colorful images, where the bodies seem connected by an invisible energy. The colors, also inspired by the symbolism of the Tarot and the chakras, do not describe reality but an emotional state. In his paintings the past becomes a constellation of relationships, a tangle of bonds, memories and family dynamics that continues to act in the present.

Cristina Iotti, with her period Non-Compliant, instead addresses a little-known page of Italian history: the women interned in mental institutions during fascism because they were judged "irreverent", "unstable" or "impertinent". Starting from medical records, the artist reconstructs their faces with the help of Artificial Intelligence. The images are then printed in cyanotype, treated manually and placed in small drawers together with period objects. Each work thus becomes a treasure chest of memory, a way to restore identity to those who had been reduced to a label.

In different ways, both artists bring to light what has been forgotten.

The contemporary art exhibition called "Contact" will be inaugurated on Saturday 6 December, at 11:00, organized at Raffaele Perrella's well-known Fiera del Mobile di Riardo (CE), more precisely in the luxurious spaces of the Thierry House Gallery, commissioned by his son Ciro.
The event, curated by Paolo Feroce, offers works of art that range from the figurative to the conceptual, also looking carefully at the Pop lines.
The artists who exhibit there, coming from all over Italy, are, for the collection created by Feroce in the Royal Palace of Caserta in 2004, the well-known Tommaso Cascella of Rome, Claudio Magrassi of Tortona, Diego Palasgo of Noale, the late Giampaolo Talani of San Vincenzo (who, among the many public works, also frescoed the station of Florence), Michela Ezechiela Riba of Turin, Aniello Scotto of Naples, Matteo Arfanotti of Sarzana (among the most famous international body painters) and the late Alessandro Parisi of Alife.
For artists external to the collection, well-established names in the national market, Giuseppe Leone from Buonassociazione, Ludovico Maria Fusco from Naples, Emiliano Terenzi from Cassino, Cristina Iotti from Sassuolo, Dora Romano from Naples, Giuseppina Irene Groccia from Cosenza, Guido Bottazzo from Venice and Maria Rosanna Cafolla from Rome were invited to exhibit.
The exhibition was conceived as the first of a series of artistic-cultural events which will also be curated in collaboration with other critics and professionals and to be beautifully contextualized with the architecture of the fair, with the furnishings of the Thierry House and with the splendid chapel designed by Pininfarina inserted inside the park

Marchionni Award 25 | Traveling exhibitions award | Cà La Ghironda

Sunday 23 November, at 4.00 pm, at the Sala delle Colonne of Ca' la Ghironda, the exhibition of the 2025 edition of the Marchionni Prize is inaugurated, the international contemporary art competition launched by the Magmma Museum of Villacidro.

The winners of this edition present in Bologna, which, we remember, is the prize for being chosen by the Jury, are:

(for the section Painting), in addition to Vanja Kashawelska and Marco Longo, first overall ex aequo: Stefano Invernizzi, Vanni Rocca, Paride Di Stefano, Ivan Toninato, Alessanfro Botti, Carlo Martini, Sofia Fresia, Rosy Mantovani, Stefano Santi.

Judging the works was a high-quality jury: Umberto Palestini, director of the Urbino Academy of Fine Arts, one of the most important artistic institutions in Italy, Laura Martinelli, head of cultural activities at the Cà La Ghironda Museum, Adriano Corsi, director of the Lazzaro Archive in Milan, Giorgio Sorrentino of the Artesanterasmo Gallery in Milan, Vitaliano Angelini, president of Incisori Urbinati and Arialdo CERIBELLI, Ceribelli Gallery Bergamo.

This year too, the Marchionni Prize is dedicated to Dino Marchionni, a superb engraver who left his hometown of Urbino in 1954 to teach in Villacidro, where he remained until the end of his life.

The program "Le Ciociare: stories of women between the 19th and 20th centuries" will open on November 22nd at 3.30pm in Piazza Martiri in via Fani in Ceprano (FR).. The exhibition, originally curated by Cinzia Dicorato and created together with Stefania Ormas, includes around thirty large works painted by artists from all over Italy starting from 2020: inspired by the banners of sacred festivals of Italian villages that traditionally lie on balconies, is made up of 150 x 250 cm sheets displayed from the balconies along the city streets which deal with the female world from different perspectives, the expectations, hopes and desires of women, with attention to care, to Nature, to the desire to reform a better world. The exhibition arrives in Ciociaria after traveling to various Italian cities from north to south, always a guest of public institutions, renewing itself from time to time with new painted canvases that are added to the collection of what has become a spontaneous artistic movement.

On this occasion Viviana Falcade's work will be exhibited for the first time, created specifically for Ceprano and winner of the new work prize announced for the occasion by the Art Sharing Roma Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Ceprano and with the participation of the Academy of Fine Arts of Frosinone and the Umberto Mastroianni Foundation. The illustration that guides this edition was also created specifically by Federica Ricci, an artist of Ceprano origin, second place in the selection.

On November 23rd, starting from 3.30 pm in the Council room of the Municipality of Ceprano, a day of conference will take place, conceived with the now imminent date of November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in mind: there will be a succession of speeches by Gianni Blasi, Santina Pistilli, Maria Lucia Belli and Ivana Orsini, telling the history of the Ciociaria area through women: models, wet nurses, women of labor, workers of paper mill, with a focus on the so-called "morocchinate" of 1944 and the social consequences of the tragic episode.

All initiatives are free to enter, the exhibition will remain visible on the facades of the town's buildings until 7 December, the day on which Viviana Falcade's work will be officially rewarded and a photographic canvas created by Ilaria Di Giustili will be formally donated to the Municipality of Ceprano, which brings together visual testimonies of the women of the paper mill based on the material preserved in the family archives of the area.
