I chose to participate in this edition of the Off Circuit with a series of photographs taken in 2018 from the "Ephemeral" series. Photographs actually taken thinking of them as a reference for my future drawings, as I am mainly a draftsman, but which then found a life of their own.

In a world based on haste, on having it all, on hit and run and on exteriority, the pandemic, and now war as well, have thrown people and certainties into crisis. It is easy in these periods to break down and isolate oneself from the world and from interpersonal contacts.

These delicate and poetic intimate shots want to focus attention and make us reflect on the transience of life and the infinite possibilities of rebirth that we can find within ourselves instead. Difficult moments are an opportunity to grow and become stronger and more aware. And it's precisely in the dark moments that we often find an unexpected strength in us that we didn't know we had and that makes us react to difficulties. So let's not hide our inner fragility, but let's accept them and make them our strength and draw new blood from them to flourish. Today I am strong because I have been weak, pain is often the obligatory means for change and renewal. You have to die a little to be reborn.

From 5 to 20 March 2022, at the historic “Bourbon military district” of Casagiove (Caserta), the art exhibition called “Domna”.

It is an annual exhibition dedicated to women, organized by the Association "eXclusive”, with exhibition venue in Teano (CE).

This second edition (the first was held in 2019 and then suspended for two years due to the pandemic) will be enriched by meetings and theatrical performances.

The events and shows will be part of the artistic review "START AGAIN“, curated by the artistic association “30Allora”, which includes the performance of Marco Mantovanelli on March 6, of Nunzia Schiano on March 13th and Annalisa Brignola on March 20th.

Tuesday 8 March, however, there will be a meeting organized by the municipal administration of Casagiove, in collaboration with the C.U.G., called “8 March: let's talk about women”, an opportunity to reflect on the contributions that women have made to the City in promoting gender equality.

As speakers, in addition to the Mayor and the Councilor for Social Policies, Dr Anna Altavilla, there will be Prof. Luciano De Luca (Teacher of Motor and Sports Sciences at the 'A. Manzoni' high school in Caserta - Member of the C.N.I.F.P.), Dr. Agnese Ginocchio (Teacher and President of the International movement for peace and the protection of Creation) and Dr. Antonio Casertano (Public Journalist).

We will therefore range from visual arts to multidisciplinary contexts, trying to investigate women in their complexity and pay homage to them through diversified aesthetics.

The concept of the exhibition is Paolo Feroce, art curator and head of the collections of Museo d’arte e design PAM, located in the ducal palace of Parete (CE).

The inauguration will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 6:00 pm, with the journalist welcoming visitors Laura Ferrante and the Mayor of the City of Casagiove, Dr. Giuseppe Vozza, while the Councilor delegated for culture will be present at the evening Gennaro Caiazza and the Director responsible for events Pietro Menditto, the Councillor Anna Altavilla and the Councillor Giovanna Ferrante with delegations to Gender and Equal Opportunities policies.

Artists from all over Italy will exhibit at the exhibition, such as: Alessandra Angelini of Parma, Margherita Argentiero of Lodi, Vittoria Giobbio of Saronno, Roberta Janes of Milan, Maria Rosanna Cafolla of Rome, Tina Pedrazzini of Lodi, Cristina Taiana of Varese, Veronica Longo of Pozzuoli, Luigi Cennamo Sbarra of Savona, Andrea Vogler of Alexandria, Francesco Zefferino of Bari, Diego Valentinuzzi of Monfalcone, Andrea Pietro Gagini of Milan, Miriam Ravasio of Lecco, Paola Bona of Turin, Giuseppina Irene Groccia of Cosenza, Luisa Russo of Naples and Cristina Iotti of Sassuolo.

At the prestigious civic rooms of the Paggeria Arte Gallery, recently transformed into Pageria Arte & Turismo, located in the square of the Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo, the personal exhibition of Cristina Iotti entitled: the shadow of the body will be held from 30 December to 23 January 2022.

The artist will present a series of previously unpublished drawings, created over the last two years specifically for this exhibition.

The germ of this exhibition – writes the artist – was born in December 2019 after having agreed with the Municipality on a personal exhibition originally scheduled for December 2020. I wanted to create a new and at the same time intimate project; I was looking for a heartfelt theme that deeply belonged to me .

One morning, during my daily visit to my parents, I was surprised to look at their unmade beds with different eyes. I began to study them and perceive a strong evocative and symbolic power in those folds which I then tried to convey through my drawings. These beds, which until a few minutes earlier had welcomed the bodies of my parents in their tormented sleep, with their movements during the night, had formed these folds, which had dramatically and forcefully become the protagonists of this new series of works of mine.(… )

... with sensitivity and mastery – writes Anita Peterle in the presentation text – she was able to immortalise, through chiaroscuro executed with patience and devotion, these sweaty and tormented shadows of her parents. The sheets, like shrouds, take the shape of every movement suffered, when getting up is torture after a night spent in pain in the limbs, with no future left.

Today all these niches hang around us like icons of a journey, of a diary, in which hope and experience fill the treasure chest of our memory.Cristina has not only suspended shadows, but living presences which, through her pencils, have taken up a different I walk, in each of his works we feel the breath and the warmth (…)… “

Biographical notes: Cristina Iotti graduated in 1987 in Illustration from the Institute's three-year higher course

European Design Institute (IED) in Milan. Since 2002 he has dedicated himself exclusively to painting and

to drawing and since then he has regularly exhibited in personal and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

He has received numerous awards and prizes in various national and international competitions.

In 2007 she was the winner in the graphics section of the "ART Award “ announced to the magazine ART

Cairo Publisher and the Special Prize Faber-Castell and, for the first time in the history of the award,

was also awarded the Gold Plate in the 2008 edition. He collaborated for several years with the

Costa Crociere and numerous of his works can be found on the Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa ships,

Costa Fascinosa and Costa Diadema. For some years he has been collaborating with the Tecnografica italian wallcoverings

for the creation of wallpapers signed with your own designs. He lives and works in Sassuolo (MO).
