From Saturday 30 May to Sunday 5 July 2015, the collective exhibition Sguardo Contemporaneo will take place at the Scaligero-Gonzaghesco Castle of Villimpenta (MN), promoted by the Municipality of Villimpenta – Department of Culture, sponsored by the Province of Mantua and in connection with the Mantua Museum System, the Grande Mantova Library System, the Po Matilde System, the Regge dei Gonzaga.

In the spaces of the Villimpenta Castle, the Guardian's House and the imposing Keep, around thirty works by ten artists selected nationally will be hosted. The intent is to offer an overview of contemporary art through different expressive means: painting, which today is back in vogue after decades of oblivion, drawing, sculpture, installation and photography which, not without lively debates, rightfully enters, and even in some cases excels, in art exhibitions. The different languages ​​through which the artists "look" and represent their personal reality are not clashing with each other, on the contrary, interesting references are created throughout the exhibition, set in motion by analogies, technical contrasts or by the same themes addressed.
The "contemporary gaze", the way of seeing and representing things nourished today by the abundance of information, stimuli and technical means within everyone's reach, does not however preclude looking at tradition, drawing valuable lessons from it or bringing "remnants" and contaminations of it into the work.

April 20, 2015 – From 25 April to 24 May in the rooms of the Fondazione l'Arsenale twenty-seven contemporary artists will exhibit their works, giving a poetic, cultural and aesthetic interpretation of the theme Vanitas – Death.

The inspiration for the exhibition was the unusual presence of a fresco depicting a macabre dance from the end of the 15th century on the internal wall of the apse of the Romanesque church of San Silvestro in Iseo, promoted as an asset to be preserved within the "Places of the Heart" census of the FAI - Italian Environment Fund.

“The allegory of Death-Vanitas reaches its greatest development, within the Still Life genre, in the 17th century and maintains similar formal characteristics in the following period” – explains Lidia Muffolini, author of the critical text on the exhibition – “In the contemporary era, the iconographic theme maintains the structures of the past but is loaded with different meanings, as Death, from an antagonist bringing destruction and detachment from material values, becomes a moment of fundamental reflection on life and its decay“.

The exhibition “Beyond Life” is curated by Angelo Zanella, the critical text is signed by Lidia Muffolini.

The exhibition itinerary will be punctuated by works created by Italian and foreign artists, all measuring 13x18 cm, the size of traditional photographic prints and postcards for correspondence. The thematic fulcrum of the exhibition, in fact, is the communicative possibilities and ways of representation peculiar to the small format. Thus, the image and the support, as an overlap of physical and ideal space, express an aesthetic of the minimal sign which, on the one hand, limits the excess of information, on the other, expands the cognitive process, establishing an open dialogic relationship between the work and the user.
The fruition itinerary will be dynamic and immersive, ranging between heterogeneous techniques, from graphics to painting, and different styles, from abstraction to realism. Different languages ​​for contexts, generations and inspirations will dialogue in the gallery space. The visual narrative, spread rhythmically on the architectural surface, will become a code to be interpreted, according to the infinite and unpredictable encyclopedias of those who create and those who observe.

"The space of the support imposes a visual and conceptual cut on the image. The majestic cycles that decorate the cathedrals tell an imposing story but with well-defined contours, within which the act of interpretation is canceled, in favor of a static vision, dictated by an all-encompassing authority. On the contrary, the representation extended over an extremely concentrated surface has the forms of a constant process, because it creates a perpetual perceptive motion between opening and closing. In fact, the information conveyed by the surface minimal, they naturally and discreetly arouse the curiosity of the user who is called to act in the depth of the image, beyond what can be seen, to complete its meaning."

Twenty-five female artists for Palazzo Pirola

At Palazzo Pirola we are at the second stage of the Femminile, Plural exhibition. A super event that brings together twenty-five of the most interesting names on the female artistic scene in Italy.

A double stop because here, a stone's throw from Milan, from 18 October to 9 November the protagonists of two exhibitions created under the banner of Biffi Arte will meet. The first, The Look at the World, from 27 June to 3 August brought together the gazes of 14 women in the Piacenza gallery. From the poetic photographs of Alessandra Baldoni to the infinite spaces painted by Linda Carrara, from the labyrinths of trees by Marika Vicari to the teeming construction sites of Marina Previtali, from the carnal flowers of Chiara Albertoni to the imposing ones of Brigitta Rossetti, from the silent rooms of Tina Sgrò to the chaotic crowd of Liliana Cecchin. And then Elisa Rossi's girls, Cristina Iotti's soft patterns, Claudia Scarsella's kaleidoscopes, Loredana Galante's fairy chaos, Marica Fasoli's more real-than-life children, up to the music, photographed in vibrations by Marina Giannobi.
The second exhibition, The spaces of the dream, will open its doors on November 22nd in Piacenza and will end on February 8th next year, and will bring together eleven other unique and unmistakable voices. To tell the dream, the fantasy. Sometimes a nightmare. So here, at Palazzo Pirola, a preview of their works.
Alice Colombo's dreams materialize in vague collages, full of small details to be followed with the gaze as in a treasure hunt. They are little girls leading multicolored birds on a leash or they are whales stranded among the branches of a tree, protagonists of stories told in a light, whispered tone. Federica Gonnelli instead recreates the dream through installations that welcome the viewer like an enveloping embrace, all played on soft lights and transparencies, in a continuous doubling and modification of reality. If Jara Marzulli with a very light, liquid painting evokes timeless female figures, frozen in a suspended moment of abandonment and meditation, the women that Adele Ceraudo interprets in her meticulous pen drawings, where she herself transforms into the protagonists of the most classic iconographies of sacred art, give an idea of ​​warrior strength. An "other" reality, vibrant, very mobile, made of a transparent material with aquatic suggestions is the one created by the hands of Annalù. With her the fiberglass becomes teeming foam, wave, butterfly wing, living, breathing and fairy entity. If Ieva Petersone takes us with her paintings to a cold and perfect world, divided into rooms with metaphysical atmospheres, where design icons become protagonists of spaces with hypnotic geometric balances, the space into which Chiara Coccorese invites us is of a completely different kind. Her photographs, constructed as collages full of objects created or recovered by her, plunge us beyond Alice's mirror, into a world where proportions are canceled out, reference points are reversed, inviting us to float in a sensation of restless bliss. And then there is Florencia Martinez, with her photographs printed on brightly colored fabrics, with her embroideries that are stories of life and with her installations where household objects, covered in fabric and soft quills, become welcoming and threatening at the same time. Ilaria Del Monte, with her girls prisoners of enchanted rooms, where mirrors reflect unreal images and objects come to life. Francesca De Pieri, who with her photographs of quarries and botanical gardens, printed on double transparent plates, offers us a new, vibrant and pulsating look at nature. And Giovanna Lacedra, with a series of dreamlike watercolors inspired by female poetry (from Sylvia Plath to Anne Sexton) and with the performance Nonsonomaistataunabambina – scheduled for the inauguration – where she stages the nightmare of badly loved childhood and the awakening to life.

On Saturday 20 September at 6.00 pm the Municipality of Rubiera (RE) in collaboration with the Tiziana Severi Arte Contemporanea gallery presents the exhibition "C9 - Arte a corte in September" in the prestigious and historic exhibition space of the Corte Ospitale di Rubiera (via Fontana 2). This edition's exhibition is a collective exhibition entitled "Tissue" curated by Francesca Baboni and will be enriched by related guided tours.
The C9 event, which presents itself as a synergy between the municipal spaces and the gallery, in which other introductory works to the exhibition will be exhibited at the same time, intends to have an annual frequency and present every year in the month of September a contemporary art exhibition with national/international artists by invitation. The objective is to act as a catalyst and create an artistic event to be consolidated over time, recognized at a national level, spreading knowledge of contemporary art in the local area through guided visits to private individuals and schools.
The “Tissue” exhibition presents a varied collective on the intriguing theme of tissue interpreted and analyzed in its various peculiarities, from a purely aesthetic and suggestive element behind which stories are hidden, to a research that goes beyond becoming an expression of a personal identity and a thought.
The seven invited artists, Giorgia Beltrami, Barbara Bonfilio, Mimmo Iacopino, Cristina Iotti, Florencia Martinez, Elisa Rossi, Ketty Tagliatti, names already established on a national and/or international level who operate in the pictorial field, created works relating to the theme and worked with various materials showing an imaginative variety of representations. Mattresses that become fabric flowers, woven velvets, barely noticeable or redundant volumes, embroidery and experiments that imply personal travails and choices or childhood memories transform the exhibition into an exciting kaleidoscope of colors and emotions. Second Act| The gaze on the world

Biffi Arte presents the newest and most original voices in three exhibitions

of Italian female art.

Is there a specifically female way of looking at the world? Is there a "female" gaze that can be concretely contrasted with a "male" gaze? Beyond clichés, perhaps, it can be hypothesized with a certain plausibility that if the male eye is better trained in the overall vision and strategic solution, the female eye seems more inclined to look in depth, to penetrate reality through sounding. An emotional, rather than practical, sounding.

The exhibition was born from this belief The look on the world, second chapter of the review Feminine, plural, scheduled by Biffi Arte from 27 June to 3 August. After Intimacy, the look inside – which investigated how ten women use art to read inside themselves, to be closer to their true selves - here the object of attention shifts outside. A shift in the framing which does not, however, correspond to a substantial change in the method. Which remains that of active contemplation, silent listening, understanding in the richest sense of the term (contain within oneself, embrace, enclose), wisdom, but also sometimes that of hearty laughter, irony - perhaps with a slight undertone of bitterness - and play.

Se Alessandra Baldoni tells the emotions of an unlived passion through the powerful, highly symbolic and lyrical language of his photographs, Linda Carrara he recreates the space around himself through painting, building environments with clear architecture and magmatic colors in which we have the impression of losing ourselves. And we really risk getting lost in the forests of Marika Vicari, expanses of trees filled with lights and shadows, almost like backdrops ready to welcome us into their mysteries. Even vegetation, leaves, stems, immense flowers perhaps coming from another world, are the matter through which Brigitta Rossetti investigate the real. Not the forest, however, but the metropolis is the terrain of Marina Previtali, which with its vibrant, very mobile, intense brushstrokes gives us a Milan "that rises" like a teeming construction site pulsating with neon flashes. And the paintings of this same metropolis appear almost like close-up shots of this same metropolis Liliana Cecchin, with the crowd running past each other and the movements that double the figure and multiply it in a neo-futurist dance. Far from the crowd, immersed in a muffled silence, here are the rooms of Tina Sgro: enchanted, timeless environments, filled with a soft and pacifying light that blurs the contours and confuses the gaze. And out of time the girls of Cristina Iotti, almost pencil and pastel embroideries that tell us, between laces and arabesques of astonishing precision, the small, entirely feminine drama of the choice of dress. A real room is one into which you invite the viewer Claudia Scarsella: comfortable cushions to sit on and upholstery on which small moments of life, images, memories, clippings, fragments of photographs double and multiply like in a kaleidoscope. The fairy world he invites us into Loredana Galante, however, is more similar to the one Alice found after crossing the mirror, among flowerbeds that emerge from the floor as if by magic, brightly colored birds, overflowing fountains, sumptuous fruit baskets and wise spiders that weave silky webs ready to trap us. Marina Giannobi he chooses a theme - it can be reading or, as in this case, music - and immortalizes it in an endless series of photographic shots, analyzes it down to the infinitesimal detail, returning it to us in vibrant images, in clever and surprising out-of-focus, like a precious film to be recreated within us. A very clean look at reality is that of Elisa Rossi, which in oils on canvas all played on shadows, blacks and whites, tells of a tender everyday life, where almost photographic accuracy dissolves into poetry. And very clear, as if framed by a hypersensitive zoom, are the flowers of Chiara Albertoni. Immense, rendered with a stunning definition that gives us the impression of being able to touch every drop of dew, they stare at us splendid, regal, sensual, alive like thinking creatures. Instead, the paint tastes like candy and candy canes Marica Fasoli. A hyperrealism that goes beyond the mere reproduction of real data, which breaks through two dimensions and with a metaphysical brightness and clarity tells of dreams, promises, hopes and small unforgettable moments.

Like the first chapter, Interiority, looking inside, Also The look on the world will have a twin exhibition in Milan, in the eighteenth-century Palazzo Pirola in Gorgonzola, from 18 October to 9 November. In this case the artists will also be joined by the protagonists of the third and final chapter of the exhibition, The spaces of the dream, scheduled in Piacenza between December 2014 and January 2015.
