The program "Le Ciociare: stories of women between the 19th and 20th centuries" will open on November 22nd at 3.30pm in Piazza Martiri in via Fani in Ceprano (FR).. The exhibition, originally curated by Cinzia Dicorato and created together with Stefania Ormas, includes around thirty large works painted by artists from all over Italy starting from 2020: inspired by the banners of sacred festivals of Italian villages that traditionally lie on balconies, is made up of 150 x 250 cm sheets displayed from the balconies along the city streets which deal with the female world from different perspectives, the expectations, hopes and desires of women, with attention to care, to Nature, to the desire to reform a better world. The exhibition arrives in Ciociaria after traveling to various Italian cities from north to south, always a guest of public institutions, renewing itself from time to time with new painted canvases that are added to the collection of what has become a spontaneous artistic movement.
On this occasion Viviana Falcade's work will be exhibited for the first time, created specifically for Ceprano and winner of the new work prize announced for the occasion by the Art Sharing Roma Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Ceprano and with the participation of the Academy of Fine Arts of Frosinone and the Umberto Mastroianni Foundation. The illustration that guides this edition was also created specifically by Federica Ricci, an artist of Ceprano origin, second place in the selection.
On November 23rd, starting from 3.30 pm in the Council room of the Municipality of Ceprano, a day of conference will take place, conceived with the now imminent date of November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in mind: there will be a succession of speeches by Gianni Blasi, Santina Pistilli, Maria Lucia Belli and Ivana Orsini, telling the history of the Ciociaria area through women: models, wet nurses, women of labor, workers of paper mill, with a focus on the so-called "morocchinate" of 1944 and the social consequences of the tragic episode.
All initiatives are free to enter, the exhibition will remain visible on the facades of the town's buildings until 7 December, the day on which Viviana Falcade's work will be officially rewarded and a photographic canvas created by Ilaria Di Giustili will be formally donated to the Municipality of Ceprano, which brings together visual testimonies of the women of the paper mill based on the material preserved in the family archives of the area.
